Parents are required to be in the water.

Child will "swim" with an instructor using floatation without their parents.

Guppies
Age 3-5 years
Child can swim with floatation on their front for 30 feet and on their back for 3 feet in shallow or deep water; safety skill with floatation.

Child can swim on stomach without help for 10 feet and on back for 5 feet; safety skill unaided.

Ages 6 Years and Up
Fraser Aquatics follows the American Red Cross set of guidelines for swim lessons, which sets forth what skills each person must accomplish before continuing on to the next level, regardless of age. The following is only a brief listing of the skills needed for that level:
Turtles
Red Cross Level 1Beginners level, requires assistance to swim in shallow or deep water on their front or back for 30 feet.

Electric Eels
Red Cross Level 2Comfortable swimming in deep water for 30 feet, several times unaided on their stomach and back; safety skills unaided in deep end.

Stingrays
Red Cross Level 3Swims beginner’s stroke with rhythmic breathing and “birdie arms” on back with body horizontal and strong arms and legs for 15 yards.

Manatees
Red Cross Level 4Swims front crawl with rotary breathing for 15 yards, back crawl for 15 yards, performs elementary backstroke for 15 yards, performs breaststroke kick for 15 yards, performs a compact dive off the side, dives off the diving board, and comfortable swimming 25 yards.

Marlins
Red Cross Level 5Swims front crawl and back crawl with bent arm pull for 25 yards, performs elementary backstroke, breaststroke and sidestroke properly for 15 yds, standing dive off the board.

Red Cross Level 6Swims front crawl with bilateral breathing and back crawl for 50 yards with flip turns; can swim breaststroke, butterfly, elementary backstroke and sidestroke for 25 yards.

Teens, Adults, Exercise Classes and Adaptive Aquatics
Advanced Swimming
This is a 55 minute class that challenges advanced swimmers who are looking to swim competitively.

Teen & Adult Lessons
Designed to introduce and improve basic aquatic skills. Classes are taught at beginner and intermediate levels by experienced Water Safety Instructors.

Private Lessons
A 30 minute, one-on-one instructor to swimmer ratio class that allows a more individualized lesson for the swimmer.

Slimnastics
Taught mainly in the shallow end of the pool, this very popular class is designed for the general population, where all are welcome. The class participant will experience a great cardio workout while providing low-impact, muscular resistance and a wide range of exercises.

Diving
For those who are interested in the world of diving, this course will teach the basic techniques.
Lifeguarding
In taking the lifeguarding class, students' main goal is to learn how to prevent accidents before they occur. This will include learning good surveillance of the pool and scanning techniques. Students will also learn water rescue skills with the use of a rescue tube, how to control potential emergency situations, preventing disease transmission, and also certifying in CPR (with AED) and First Aid.

Water Safety Instructor
This class will inform you about the history of swimming, including:
Mechanics and science of strokes; Skill readiness/student readiness of strokes; Styles of learning; Methods of teaching; Psychology of learning; and, Progression of teaching strokes.
