One way schools support students is by providing parents with a Read at Home Plan to help their children improve their literacy.
The simplest and most helpful way you can support your child’s literacy is to ensure that your child reads at home for at least 20 minutes per day.
Reading with your child at home each day is a proven way to promote early literacy and overall school achievement. Taking steps to ensure that your child is reading at grade level by third grade is one of the most important things you can do to prepare him or her for the future. By reading with your child for 20 minutes per day and making a few simple activities a part of your daily home routine, you can have a positive impact on your child’s success in school.
Suggestions for activities and resources at home are available on this page. We hope these suggestions will support your child’s literacy growth and support you in working together with your child’s teacher.
