Freshman Wins Two State Championships

On Saturday March 11th at Eastern Michigan University, Fraser HS Freshman Alex Capizzo became the first student in Fraser Boys Swim and Dive Program to win not only one but two MHSAA Individual State Championships.  

Early in the afternoon on Saturday Alex started the day of by winning the 200 IM in a time of 1:50.21 and then came back later in the day to win the 500 Freestyle in a time of 4:29.06.  In winning these events, Alex became the first freshman to win an individual event at the Division 2 Swimming State Championship since the MHSAA began running them some 15 years ago.  

Alex Achieved High School All American stars in the 500 Freestyle and in in consideration for All American status int he 200 IM.  Alex is the fastest swimmer in the history of Macomb County in the 500 Freestyle and 200 IM and the first to achieve All American status.  Throughout the year Alex broke and set all of the swim records at Fraser HS in every event and at several of the other High Schools he competed at during the course of the season, some records at Fraser had stood for more then 30 years.  Congratulations to Alex on all of his success this year and on becoming a State Champion.
