15 Mile Construction

15 Mile Under Construction

Dear Salk Families,

I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of two upcoming construction projects in our area.

  • 15 Mile Road from Simon Drive to Bobcean (Klein)
    • The Macomb County Department of Public Works will begin work on the sewer lines early next week
    • This includes the area directly in front of Salk Elementary School
    • Both westbound lanes will be closed; two-way traffic will be diverted to the turn lane and eastbound lanes
    • Work will continue through July 2022
  • 14 Mile Road from Janet Avenue to the railroad tracks (west of Groesbeck)
    • Consumers Energy will be working on a project beginning Monday, October 18
    • The road will be closed
    • Work is expected to only take one week

You may want to consider finding an alternate route or giving yourself extra time in your commute beginning next week.

With the oncoming construction to 15 Mile, it is important that we are respectful and thankful for the use of St. Ronald's parking lot next door to Salk.

  • Please keep in mind that the loop in the church parking lot is a one-way loop that will take you directly back to 15 Mile road as you go around the back of the church. (The church has expressed concerns for our students over cars going the wrong way on the one-way drive).
  • There are staff parking spots designated for St. Ronald's employees and volunteers. Please do not park in these spots. There are a limited number of spots at the front of the church and a large parking lot in the back of the church.

Losing the opportunity to use these lots, especially during the construction period, will only serve to make commutes longer and parking spots more scarce.

Be Safe Everyone,

Mr. Fichter
