Transportation

Students will be assigned a route number in lieu of a bus number. The route number is located on the left side of the entry door. Each bus route has been assessed and tested in an effort to make Fraser’s transportation system as safe and efficient as possible. To ensure transportation, all students must be at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time. General Information

Transportation is provided to in-district students only. Schools of Choice students are not eligible to receive transportation.

A parent, guardian or designee of students in young fives or kindergarten must meet their child at their assigned bus stop every day. Also, special education students who require adult assistance need to have a parent or guardian at the bus stop.

If an adult fails to meet the young fives or kindergarten student at the bus stop, the transportation department will contact the student’s school and report that no one is there to receive the child. Children will be returned to their school.

What is the Synovia system?
As students in Fraser enter and exit the bus, there is a device near the driver where they will need to scan their student ID card or a photo of their ID card on their phone.

Why did Fraser Public Schools partner with Synovia?
This partnership increases the security on our buses and ensures all students are on the correct bus.

Which students does this affect?
All students will scan on the bus for the 2025-26 school year.

What if my student does not show his or her Student ID?
We will not deny any student access to the bus, as long as they are eligible to ride the bus. We will never leave a student at their bus stop. However, administrative follow-up will take place for students who repeatedly forget their ID.

What if my child forgets or loses his or her ID?
The media centers will be equipped with printers to make replacement student ID cards. Please note this may incur a $3 fee.

How do I get the Here Comes the Bus app?
This free app provides families with updates regarding transportation – from the exact time to expect the bus to alerts for parents when your student gets on the bus and arrives at school or home.

Special Education Transportation

Transportation for students receiving special education services requires careful coordination to ensure all students arrive safely and on time. As transportation routes become more complex, we appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain efficient schedules. While we understand that occasional circumstances may arise, even small delays can affect transportation for many students. Please review the following guidelines to help ensure safe and reliable transportation for your child.

Be Ready for Pickup
Your child should be ready at least 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. Drivers are not expected to wait beyond two minutes. After waiting two minutes, the driver will notify the Transportation Department, the delay will be documented, and the driver will be instructed to continue the route. The driver will not be permitted to return for a missed pickup.
Report Student Absences
If your child will not be attending school, please notify the Transportation Department one day in advance, if possible, or by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the absence by calling 586-439-7104.
Notify Transportation of Schedule Changes
Please inform the Transportation Department whenever you plan to transport your child to or from school instead of using district transportation. If your child will be absent for an extended period due to vacation, illness, or another reason, please notify the Transportation Department as soon as possible.
Approved Drop-Off Locations Only
Drivers may only transport students to their approved home address. Please do not ask the driver to drop your child off at a different location. If an alternate drop-off location is necessary, it must be approved in advance by the Transportation Department and must be located within the Fraser Public Schools district.
Parent Assistance
Parents or caregivers are asked to assist when a child is unable to safely travel between the home and the vehicle independently. For safety reasons, drivers are not permitted to leave the vehicle unattended.
Bus Safety Expectations
Students are expected to follow all transportation safety rules and demonstrate appropriate behavior while riding the vehicle. Repeated misconduct may result in the loss of transportation privileges. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to review and reinforce these expectations with their child.
Adult Required at Drop-Off
When your child is dropped off at home, a parent, guardian, or authorized caregiver must be present outside to receive the child before the driver can release them.
