Message from the Superintendent | July 2021
Dear Fraser Families,
I hope that you are enjoying summertime with your friends and families! Summer is always a great time to relax and recharge. In Fraser, our Summer School and Meet Up and Eat Up programs are well on their way, and we are excited to provide our families with these wonderful opportunities throughout the summer months.
As we enter mid-July, I know many families are thinking about the Fall, and I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you our plans for September.
At this point in time, our intentions for the Fall is to return to a normal school environment and routine for the 2021-2022 school year. We have and will continue to work closely with our local Macomb County Health Department. As we have discussed before, this is a fluid situation, and we will adjust accordingly if needed.
On Tuesday, June 22, all restrictions, epidemic orders, and mandates in regards to COVID-19 were removed. Our COVID-19 Extended Learning Plan expired at the end of this past school year. There is no longer any legislative or legal requirement for any “plan” to modify in person schooling, and at this point, we have no indication that there will be any such requirement for next year.
There is also no requirement for our Board of Education to take any action to create normalcy. In our summer programs, we continue to emphasize handwashing and increased cleaning and sanitizing. Daily home health screening will remain vitally important. Students and staff who are symptomatic or sick must stay home and seek medical care as necessary. These will be strategies we will continue to practice in the Fall. We expect these less intrusive mitigation measures will help with not only the spread of COVID-19 but other seasonal and common viruses.
We will continue to follow the law and any school mandates. The health and safety of our staff, students and families is still our top priority.
As I have shared before, masking will be a choice for any staff member, student, or visitor. We know that choice is important to our parents and our plan is to continue that option for families and staff.
The Macomb County Health Department continues to provide leadership and important assistance to our county schools in navigating the pandemic. They have recently updated their guidance for schools through the MCHD Return to School Toolkit. Please see the excerpt below from page 2 of the document that explains their current guidance, “Face coverings are not required for students or staff. However, students and staff who are not fully vaccinated should consider wearing a face covering when indoors, especially in crowded settings.”
We are excited to be gearing up for August/September Back to School Activities and our first day of school on September 7. I know we are all looking forward to the many traditions and experiences that have been lost during this past year and half. Let us continue to work as a team and demonstrate flexibility, kindness and grace so that we continue to strengthen and grow an even stronger Fraser Family.
I am so proud and thankful to be your Superintendent. Fraser is truly a remarkable school district.
With Fraser Pride,
Ms. Carrie Wozniak

Virtual Enrollment Updates
As a point of clarity to the Message from the Superintendent sent Wednesday, July 14 at 8 a.m., we did not intend to imply that returning to a normal school environment meant we would be forcing all students to return to face-to-face. For those who do want to learn in-person, the environment will more closely resemble what it did before the pandemic. We are currently reviewing the applications for the Fraser Virtual K-12 option.
The District did not have sufficient enrollment at any grade level to create a full section by grade level. Therefore, we are recalibrating our virtual option. We will be following up with our families who requested a virtual option this Fall to review their options. If you have questions, please reach out to Dr. Delgado at email@example.com.
We welcome Macomb County Residents through Schools of Choice in grades DK-11 who have not been suspended in the last two school years or ever expelled. Schools of Choice enrollment is open through September 10, 2021. Residents of our District may enroll at any time in grades DK-12.
For more information about enrollment and to complete the online registration packet, please visit our Enroll Today page.
All incoming students in our kindergarten and DK - a program for young 5s must complete a Brigance Assessment before the first day of school. To schedule your appointment, please visit our DK/Kindergarten Enrollment page.
