Welcome to Eisenhower's Computer Lab
My name is Nancy McLeod. I am Eisenhower's Computer Lab Assistant. My job here at Eisenhower is to try to keep all 32 of our Dell laptop computers up and running. I am also here to help the staff and students learn how to use each of the wonderful programs we have installed. I also am the webmaster for the Eisenhower web site.
Eisenhower’s computer lab is 14 years old and we have achieved so many exciting and wonderful things. All Eisenhower students come to the computer lab a minimum of 40 minutes each week. Each student has access to a computer with Windows XP. All the computers are linked to a file server so each student has access to the same programs.
Our computers are to be used as a classroom extension tool, so students have access to a number of great programs to enhance their learning experience.
Each computer has limited access to the internet so students can learn how to navigate the web, as well as benefit from the wonder information out there. The students are not allowed to search on the web, but directed to pre-selected sites that their teachers have chosen to enhance their studies.
Other exciting things that have been offered in the Eisenhower lab are parent classes that are offered to our students parents through out the school year. Parents, and even some Grandparents, will be given the chance to learn new skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as the introductions on how to explore the internet as well as take internet virtual field trips. We also have hosted a school newspaper and a photographer group.
As I am sure you can tell, I love my job and enjoy being able to share the excitement computers can bring. Why not drop me a note and let me know someone is out there looking.
Mrs. Nancy McLeod
